Madagascar, in long form the republic of madagascar, is a island state located in theIndian Ocean and geographically attached to African continent, from which it is separated by the mozambique channel. It is the fifth largest world island. 1580 long miles and 580 wide miles, Madagascar covers an area of 587,000 miles². Its capital is Antananarivo and the country's currency is theariary.
