“Hawaii” is a volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean and one of the eight main islands that make up the US state of Hawaii.

The name of Hawaii would come from Hawai'iloa, Polynesian navigator who would have discovered it. However, other sources attribute this name to the legendary kingdom of Hawaiki, a place where the Polynesians are said to have originated and where they would return after their death.

In a retro vein, Alex Asfour's style incorporates modern elements, bold color and subtle texture. For the past four years, he has been working on a series of illustrations of destinations around the world.
