Obey – Shepard Fairey is an American graphic artist and social activist. He is a member of the Street Art movement, just like Keith Haring And Jean-Michel Basquiat before him.
Obey – Shepard Fairey shares his political and social criticism through frescoes and public spaces. His iconic portrait Hope (2008) by candidate Barack Obama is probably his best-known work.
Countryside Obey (1992), started while attending the Rhode Island School of Design.
Frank Shepard Fairey was born on February 15, 1970 in Charleston, South Carolina. The artist borrows graphic styles from the 20th century, blurring the lines between high art and commercial art. His work is in the collections of the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
